Memorandum of Understanding

At the November event we created a draft Memorandum which said:
“We will strengthen the capacity of local voluntary organisations. “
This will be demonstrated by:
• Inter European information exchange to share ways to increase local community volunteering techniques.
• Recognition of the contribution made by volunteers
• Provide local support and advice to volunteers.

In discussions with representatives of Sherborne Town Council we have had to look at opportunities that are more related to what our town council can adopt. As such it has integrated the flavour of the demonstration, as well as the original statement. Further specific implementation measures can be developed at the Conference and workshop in May. The current draft says:

“In this Memorandum of Understanding we express our gratitude to those volunteers who have dedicated their time, energy and imagination to the town over the years, and we here declare our intention, as a council, to continue to support volunteering and to celebrate the contribution made by volunteers to the well-being of our town and its environs.”
This has gone out to consultation to the towns.
